Must-Have Power Tools For DIY Outdoor Projects

Outdoor do-it-yourself projects may look like fun but they are a lot of work and require the right tools. I find that I’m always acquiring new and more useful tools as I tackle each and every outdoor project. I’ve found power tools to be the best way to make my yard more livable and lively. As somewhat of an expert on the topic, I made a list of tools you must have for any basic outdoor task.

1. Post Hole Digger

If you are looking for the fastest and most convenient way to dig holes, you need an auger. They come in a range of sizes depending on what you need to plant. This power tool has been a true life saver for me. I love gardening but despite what people may think, it’s hard work. It can take a huge toll on your body so having an auger really takes the backache out of gardening.
Quick tip: Augers are not just for gardening, you can use them for a number of jobs around your home. They’re great for digging fence post holes, decking supports, retaining walls, plumbing and other general construction.

2. Pole Saw

Before purchasing a pole saw my outdoor area was a shambles. There was no way I was climbing a ladder with a chainsaw, it would be way too dangerous and garden shears would have taken forever. It’s almost impossible to prune hard to reach areas without a pole saw. They are lightweight so there is little effort required and I can reach up to 6 metres. Pole lengths can vary so make sure you purchase a model in accordance with the height of your trees.

Quick tip: Fine Gardening says “Trimming trees and shrubs in late winter is better than waiting until spring. Wounded limbs can become infected over the winter; allowing disease to become established when the plant is dormant. Late-winter pruning prevents disease from spreading to new growth.”

3. Power Pressure Washer

Probably one of my least favorite jobs is sweeping, especially outside! Before we invested in a pressure washer I would spend hours sweeping and trying to wash dirt off our patio. They are ideal for cleaning the patio, driveway and even the car in a matter of minutes.

Quick tip: There are some things to keep in mind when purchasing a pressure washer. You can choose between a hot or cold water washer and a range of nozzle heads, depending on your project.

4. Brush Cutter

Brush cutters are the ultimate way to create crisp, clean lines between the lawn and your patio or veranda area. They are great for large lawn areas and aggressively spreading grass. They will create a sharp looking outdoor living space that you can be proud of.

outdoor patio

Greenery can create a picture perfect outdoor area and patio but it won’t be picture perfect if you don’t maintain it. Design the patio to be an extension of your home’s architecture; this is a great way to give the illusion of a larger space. This is particularly beneficial if you have a smaller home as it’s a great way to save space in your home as well.

This list power tools will ensure your outdoor area and patio are presentable all year round. However, don’t waste your time and money looking for the best equipment in stores. I’ve realized the best way to get value for money is shop for power equipment online. You can compare prices and find equipment that is going to suit your needs.
