Our New House!!

I can’t believe I’ve forgotten to post pictures of our new house that we had built by Morgan & Parker Builders.  I’m not even close to unpacking yet, although it’s been several months but I don’t want to stress over it and just enjoy life.

So here are the pictures, I’ll post more as we get them decorated.

Deck and Soon to be Screened in Porch:

Stained Bead board ceiling, we used the full sheet of beadboard instead of the individual slats (it was cheaper and I don’t think it would have looked any different):

Front Porch:

Dining Room (but we are using it as a living room b/c we don’t need a formal dining room):

Family Room, we’ve recently added built-ins on either side of the fireplace and it looks great, I’ll post later on how I did it:

Staircase (love it):

Fireplace, we did the mantel like this for a reason.  We had a plan for the built-ins to be integrated without the built-ins sticking out further than the mantel and the fireplace had requirements of how far away the mantel needed to be (more on that later):

Kitchen, we’ve already make some changes to the kitchen.  I’ve changed the light fixtures (one just kept breaking and they weren’t bright enough), I’m almost done adding the back splash and I’m going to do something about that annoying gap above the fridge which I didn’t catch in the kitchen design:

Master Bedroom, we took the pendants from the kitchen and put them where you see those two light bulbs on the ceiling:

Master Bathroom:

We were waiting for the missing doors:

Anyway, that is just some overview pictures.  I’ll post more on each individual room and the kids’ rooms as I get them decorated.  These pics were taken right before we moved in and some things still were finished yet.

What color did you choose for the siding? Is it LP smart side?

  2. Hi, I’m new to your blog (found you on Pinterest). Your new home is BEAUTIFUL!!! Your kitchen is very similar to mine, except yours is nicer of course. I’d like to make some changes to our kitchen and I’m wondering if you wouldn’t mind sharing the dimensions of your kitchen and island… just wondering if that would work in our home. Thanks.

    • Thanks for visiting!! and thanks so much for the compliment! Our Kitchen is 14 feet wide along the wall with the refrigerator and almost 17 feet along the stove wall. Our island is 4 feet wide and about 8 1/3 feet long and we have about 3 1/4 feet of walk space between the island and the stove and that seems to be wide enough for us. On the other side of the island we have a tiny bit over 4 feet of walk space between the island and the wall and that works out really well since it’s a higher traffic area and the bar stools are there. I was nervous about the layout of our kitchen when it was on paper, but now that I’ve lived in it for a year, I love it. It’s extremely functional and we had something like 5 or more people in there preparing food at the same time and it worked. I really like the island being right across from the refrigerator. This is our most used zone on a daily basis. Everyone takes leftovers, sandwich stuff out of the fridge and puts it right there on that end of the island. The pullout trash, microwave and silverware drawer are also in the end of the island so it’s a perfect spot to do all the quick food fixes. I also love the corner sink, it’s in a big cabinet so it’s plenty of room for multiple people to get in there and use it. I really like the sink being close the the stove for prepping, dumping hot water and washing hands a million times during cooking (no water/food dripping across floors like in our apartment where the sink was across from the stove). The oven works for us where it is because we don’t use it that much. I’m glad we didn’t put the microwave over it because we use the microwave a whole lot more and I’m glad it’s closer to the fridge. I also love the prep sink. I have a big garden and I put the vegetables right in there to get washed and it’s where I prepare all my vegetables. It’s so nice to have an extra sink for this because the big sink is usually full of dishes… sigh….just keeping it real. Anyway….good luck… I’d love to see before and after pictures!! Let me know if you have any more questions!!

  3. Can you share a picture of the layout of this home. It is beautiful and totally my style but I really need to see a layout to see if I like the way it is set up. It’s hard to tell in pictures of individual rooms how it all connects.
    Thanks!!!
