Nesting Place

nesting-place-logo “I started Nesting Place in November of 2007. I’ve always had a love affair with my house, ok, with all houses, and this blog is a place for you to come and find decorating encouragement, creative ideas, and be reminded that “It doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful”. I know what it’s like to want a pretty house and not have much to work with and still have to get dinner on the table, nurse a baby and wash your hair. I know what it’s like to rent and live with white walls and ugly carpet. I have decorated on no budget in the past. I’ve decided not to wait until my house is perfect to share it, use it and love it. I regret those years where I spent my time wishing my home was something more and not enjoying what I had. This isn’t a DIY blog. This isn’t a typical decorating blog. This is a blog about how to think about your home. And along the way, I hope you and I both can focus more on our own personal style. Your current home can be the home you love.”

The Handmade Home

the-handmade-home-logo “We’re the ones who constantly wear paint stains on our clothes. And sometimes, in our hair. We began our adventure together as college sweethearts, and after a decade of marriage, 3 offspring, and a mortgage later, it’s like we woke up one morning, in the tropics of Alabama still covered in sawdust when the realization hit us: This is our life.”

Primitive and Proper

primitive-and-proper-logo “I am a 34 year old mother of 2- a boy and a girl! I love to decorate… and redecorate….. and then redecorate again! I like all things pretty, prefer a mix of modern and vintage as long as they work together to create an inviting and relaxing atmosphere. Everything I do is on a very limited budget, because I can’t afford it, and even if I could, why would I spend buckets of money on things I know I can do for less!”

Our Fifth House

Our Fifth House Blog “Welcome to Our Fifth House! Yes, we are currently living in our fifth house; and yes, I know I’m a genius for coming up with such an original blog name! The hubs is a southern boy, born and raised right here in Lexington, Kentucky, and I’m not your typical Southern California girl. We are opposites in almost every sense of the word. Design is no exception. He likes modern, 60’s inspired design. I lean toward classic, traditional with an updated twist. Needless to say it gets a little confusing at times trying to merge our styles to create a home that feels comfortable for both of us.”

Not Just a Housewife

Not Just a Housewife logo “I like working with a small budget because I think it forces you to think outside of the box. I take pride in having unique pieces in my home and that is one reason I don’t really follow trends. I didn’t even know what Anthropology, Ballard, and all those stores were until months after starting this blog. I get my inspiration from the things around me. Most of the projects I do involve power tools because that is what I am comfortable using and what I LOVE to do.”
